⚠️ FAKE DCS TENDER SCAM: Blanket RFQ (Quote No. GTC 03/2025)
Scammers are impersonating the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) with yet another fraudulent Request for Proposal — this time for the supply and delivery of 700 BAXTER M500 Blankets.
The email is made to appear official, originating from Thapelo.Mokoena@dcs.gov.za, but requests submissions be sent to vuyiswa@tenderdcs-gov.co.za, which is a fake and unregistered domain.

🛑 RED FLAGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
| Unregistered Email Domain | The reply-to email (@tenderdcs-gov.co.za) is not a government domain. Real government emails use @dcs.gov.za only. |
| Unverifiable RFQ Reference | The quote number GTC 03/2025 does not appear on any official procurement portal. |
| "System delay" disclaimer | A typical scam tactic to excuse random email timing. |
| Urgency with compliance requirements | Scammers request B-BBEE, bank letters, and registration docs to seem credible — but their goal is to bait companies. |
| Allowing resellers with no scope expertise | Real DCS tenders require pre-qualification and scope alignment. |
⚠️ HOW THIS SCAM WORKS
-
You receive a convincing RFQ email.
-
You are urged to respond urgently to a non-government email address.
-
Once you send a quote, they "award" the tender and direct you to a “preferred supplier.”
-
You are asked to pay this supplier upfront for goods.
-
The supplier disappears — and so does your money.
✅ WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE THIS
